401 Richmond Closing Show and Art Sale

Soon this piece will be hanging in the 401 Richmond permanent collection. I'm so honoured to be part of this great establishment and for one of my favourite pieces to live on in those marvelous hallways. Look for it!

After a year of unforgettable adventures at 401 Richmond it's time to say goodbye to studio 260, in style. If you've ever wanted a piece of my art now is the time! I've been busy making some fresh new work, which is again guided by the Rorschach inkblot. Only this time, COLOUR.

Drop by Thursday June 14th between 7pm and 11pm for a huge selection of new art, wine and cheese. Oh yes, there will be cheese.

xox,
Chelsea Jamieson

FEEDBACK: The Not-For-Sale Art Exchange

The FATES are inviting you to submit your art to be juried and take part in a one-of-a-kind night of art appreciation, fun, and swapping work.
This is the basic premise: Our peers make amazing work that we want but that we can’t necessarily afford. We all have A LOT of own own work. We’ve all done shows where we install, pay a big fee, have an opening night, and then take all of our work home with us at the end. With this show, we get the same exposure for way less money, someone goes home with our work (and loves it!) and we go home with the work of someone else (who we love!).
With this we not only get exposure, but a wonderful piece of art for free. For information on how the show will be run click here!
The show will be happening on Saturday December 3rd at Bizune Gallery at Richmond and Spadina. It’s liquor licensed, huge, and contemporary. Check it out!
As it stands and will go no higher, the price of one piece in the show is $35 and the price for two pieces in the show is $45. There is plenty of room at the gallery so we encourage everyone to submit more than one. Jump start your art collection and let’s make this a great party!
Want to submit? Check out our submission guidelines here!

We have a spectacular handful of artists confirmed, and are always looking for more. Please check out our submission guidelines below to take part. And tell your artistically inclined friends - Spread the word about FEEDBACK!

Submission for Psychologica and Awards

And in other news I found out yesterday that I am a very lucky girl! From OCADU I'm taking home:

The Dorothy Hoover Award (for a research paper and studio work)

The Mrs. W.O. Forsyth Painting Award (given to a woman who's primary focus is painting)

The 401 Richmond Career Launcher Award (a free studio space in the building for a whole year!)

Why thank you fairy godmothers!

Shaking Hands with Infinity

Time
Waited for the tree stump to start yielding
Fruit of what seemed to be a shadow.
The last open space on the planet, closing
Towards your fingertips.

Fear of the After-life

So Many Options
Too many maps
Diversions
Escalators to nowhere
Weight of a feather
A new busy exit
Earth matters, not
Neverending puppet strings.
There is no stairway to the Empyrean

Monkeys Are Buddhist Too

Sold this painting tonight to a man named Bruce who said he knew all about my kinda Genesis but I never met him. Graeme sold it on his way out of Gorilla Monsoon. Talk about a last minute deal! It's going up in a church in Ottawa. I'm happy for him to have it. Sounds like a right wicked guy.

I should be having a solo show at Monsoon (Queen and Spadina) for the month of April if everything works out right. Maybe I'll get Three Seasons and the Move to play on opening night. Hope you can make it!

Black and White Collages

I am going to Bonnaroo again this year! Graeme and I bought tickets yesterday. Very excited that Phish is reuniting and that I will finally see them!! Last year we worked on a crazy collaborative piece after outdoor yoga. I think I'll photograph it tonight. But for now here's some work from awhile back in 1st year.

New Art Blog - Chelsea Discordia

Welcome to Chelsea Jamieson's new art blog. She is me. I am her. We observe our work being created with our hands until it is finished and ends up here. The work has chaotic multitudes of elements working towards resolve. Colour is spontaneous or imagined and rarely reflects reality. We hope you enjoy. We may or may not begin to speak in first person. We do not know.

All art and no play make Chelsea something something.

Thank you for visiting.
